Prevents me from telling my story
It becomes jumbled
As words escapes
These lips
As emotions take over
It tries to suppress
The tears from coming out
Pride
makes me
Disappointed
“Why are these tears running away?
From these eyes,
COME BACK
And keep them
Hydrated
Are they
Happy
Sad
Or confused tears
Pride
Is also a friend
Keeps me prominent of my heritage
Stories of the ancestors
And the love of family
Pride
Gives me confidence
In what I do
For work and in life
To guide and inspire
The next generation
To a respectable path
Pride can be your enemy
