Jayden Beckwith’s early years were spent in Barooga, a picturesque twin border town on the New South Wales side of the Murray River’s mighty banks.
His school days were awash with seized opportunities to write, entering works in local shows and portraying his crafted characters and stories. Interest in forensics led to work experience at the Cobram Police Station, but the influence of his family’s prolific history of service in the military, and a pledge to his beloved Great Grandmother, led to exploring service in the Australian Defence Force.
Pre-enlistment employment for Jayden included a range of responsibilities in catering and logistics, providing a solid platform to commence his current career in 2016 as an Ammunition Supply Equipment Manager for the Army in Townsville, North Queensland.
Through injury and associated mental illnesses Jayden’s creative writing, strongly influenced by mentors John Scandrett, Paul Magee and Owen Bullock, has proven to be a strong self-support tool. When crafting pieces and developing thought processes, Jayden cites the music of Breaking Benjamin as a particularly useful initiator of themes and threads.
With the motto of ‘Just Keep Fighting’ — so relevant to his life, yet borrowed from the world of professional wrestling — Jayden is empowered to not give up on himself, and to keep pushing through the barriers and obstacles to overcome the odds to achieve betterment.
These sentiments are evident in Jayden’s daily actions, and on display in the creative words and images he chooses to share with us.
